BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The Queens University of
Charlotte men's tennis team won two of three matches in doubles
play, and swept the first four singles flights en route to a 7-2
victory over No. 22 Lees-McRae College in Conference Carolinas
action on Wednesday afternoon.
Lees-McRae's (6-8, 5-2 CC) Nandor Solymosi (Drebecen, Hungary)
and Travis VanHoy (Olin, N.C.) opened the day with an 8-6 win over
Queens' (10-2, 6-0 CC) Christian Lee-Daigle and Raahii Dhruva. The
Royals' David Hannon and Josh Bloch answered with an 8-4 victory
against Pedro De Sousa Nunes (Florianopolis, Santa Catarina,
Brazil) and Graham Battle (Boone, N.C.), before Ignacio Casali and
Gustavo Munhoz defeated Alexander Hayes (Mexico City, Mexico) and
Callum Loveridge (Ashbourne, England) by an 8-6 margin.
Lee-Daigle then kicked off singles play with a 6-3, 6-4 victory
over Solymosi, as Hannon rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win against
VanHoy to give the Royals a 4-1 lead. Bloch delivered the deciding
point for Queens with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win against Hayes, before
Dhruva defeated Nunes, 3-6, 6-1, 10-8. Loveridge tallied the
Bobcats' second point with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Munhoz before Casali
closed out the day with a 6-4, 7-6 (13-11) victory over Battle.
Lees-McRae returns to the courts on Friday when the Bobcats host
Wingate University at 2:30 p.m.
