Women's Lacrosse Upended by Erskine, 19-7

DUE WEST, S.C. --- Six different LMC women's lacrosse players netted a goal, but it wasn't enough while LMC dropped a 19-7 decision to Erskine in a Conference Carolinas tilt on a beautiful Thursday afternoon at Huggins Field in Due West, S.C.

The Flying Fleet (8-7, 2-4 CC) was powered by the duo of Samantha Burns and Ali Cole, who combined for 13 goals and six assists. The Bobcats (5-7, 0-5) scooped 23 groundballs while senior Katelin Rooney (Naples, Fla.) led both squads with six draw controls.

LMC sophomore Taylor Drake (Jupiter, Fla.) reeled in a pass from Jenah Tracy (Naples, Fla.) to put the Bobcats up 1-0 only 37 seconds into the contest.

Drake led the Bobcats with two goals and tied for the team-high with four shots.

EC's Burns and Cole took control while being responsible for the teams' next six goals while the Flying Fleet went on a 7-0 run over the next 20:15.

Junior Ximena Dupont (Fort Meyers, Fla.) whipped a shot past Konstandena Brown off of a free position attempt with 6:20 remaining in the first half.

Freshman teammate Kirsten English (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) accomplished the same feat with only four ticks on the clock in the opening half while LMC trailed 11-3.

Senior Nicole Dupont (Fort Meyers, Fla.) and Drake notched a goal each in a span of 70 seconds.

EC responded with a pair of goals in a 17 second span before Tracy found the back of the net with 18:14 remaining.

Callie Gregg (Roanoke, Va.) scored LMC's final goal at the 7:32 mark.

Sophomore Mia Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) stopped 11 shots on the day.

The Flying Fleet's Burns impressed with an eight-goal performance while Brown earned with win with two saves.

LMC concludes its season with a trip to Mount Olive at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
