SWANNANOA, N.C. --- Lees-McRae freshman
Alexandria Flint climbed into the LMC record books when she
completed the 5K in 19:49.55 at the Asheville XC Carnival Saturday
morning in Swannanoa, N.C.
Flint (Blue Bell, Pa.) bumped soon-to-be inducted LMC Athletic
Hall of Famer Jessi Blackwood from the top-10 with her performance.
The freshman finished 35th overall in a DI-heavy field.
Freshman counterpart Jamie Colon (Acworth, Ga.) conquered the
course in 21:24.98 while teammate Alexandria Calma (Trussville,
Ala.) needed 22:09.39 and Jennifer Warren (Piney Flats, Tenn.)
wasn't far behind at 22:44.41.
Alabama (16) won the team title while host UNCA (68) claimed
second. Alabama's Katelyn Greenleaf won the individual title
by .22 seconds over teammate Hannah Waggoner.
On the men's side, sophomore Cody McNeely paced the
Bobcats with a time of 28:01.62. Sophomore Anthony Carroll
(Stevensville, Md.) needed 28:47.63 to complete the 8K course.
Sophomore teammate Tyler Pauley (Independence, Va.) turned in a
time of 29:25.90.
Alabama (19) claimed the team title while Western Carolina (75)
finished second. The Crimson Tide's Robbie Farnham-Rose won
the individual race in 25:04.98.
Coach Ley Fletcher's squads return to action Oct. 4 at the
USC Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C.
