MISENHEIMER, N.C. --- Junior Brady Markle had eight kills and Drew Blecher dished out 13 assists while the Lees-McRae men's volleyball team fell 19-25, 20-25, 18-25 to Pfeiffer in a Conference Carolinas match Tuesday evening at Merner Gym in Misenheimer, N.C.
The Falcons (9-2, 8-1 CC) played solid offense by swinging .333 or better in every set while Michael Brewer had 13 kills and two service aces. The Bobcats (1-9, 0-7) hit at a .364 clip in the second set and Gabriel Rivera (Cupey Bajo, Puerto Rico) chimed in with nine assists.
LMC took advantage of a Blecher (York, Pa.) block and PU service error to tie it at five early in the first.
The Falcons' Evan Blair used a pair of block assists to power a 13-5 run, grabbing an 18-10 lead.
The Bobcats cut the deficit to six, 20-14, following a John Sobel (Holbrook, N.Y.) kill. Sobel finished the evening with seven kills.
PU staved off the comeback attempt and swiped the first set after a Kyle Landrigan kill.
A quartet of LMC players recorded a kill, including two from Sobel, while the Bobcats trailed 17-15.
Markle (York, Pa.) dished out three of his eight kills in the second set, but PU pulled away with a late 3-0 run to take the set.
The Falcons offense was nearly flawless by turning in a hitting percentage .682 in the second.
PU led wire-to-wire in the third and used consecutive kills from Brewer to give the home squad an 18-10 lead.
Brewer led all players in kills while teammate David Specian paved the way with 37 assists.
LMC's Mark Shayka (Hamilton, Va.) produced six kills and two block assists.
The Bobcats welcome Belmont Abbey Friday, Feb. 27 for CC tilt in Williams Gymnasium.
