GAFFNEY, S.C. --- Junior Brady Markle notched his fifth consecutive double-digit kill effort while the Lees-McRae men's volleyball fell to Limestone in Conference Carolinas play, 20-25, 16-25, 11-25, Tuesday evening at the Timken Center in Gaffney, S.C.
The Saints (6-6, 5-1 CC) didn't have a single player notch double-digit kills, but hit progressively throughout the match while swinging an incredible .647 clip. The Bobcats (1-4, 0-3) were led by Keenan Freitas (Mountain View, Hawaii) defensively, who amassed a match-high 11 digs.
The first set was a tight battle while LMC used a 3-0 run to grab a 14-12 lead, powered by a Mark Shayka (Hamilton, Va.) block.
LC's Alejandro DeMendoza and Joel McGuire combined for five kills while using a 13-6 run to claim the opening set.
The Saints sprinted out to a 12-3 lead in the second following a pair of LMC attack errors.
The Bobcats trimmed the deficit to nine, 20-11, after Markle (York, Pa.) and John Sobel (Holbrook, N.Y.) cranked out a trio of kills.
LC held on to take the second set while swinging a .455 clip.
The Saints led wire-to-wire in the final set and produced an 18-5 run after leading 7-6 to complete the sweep.
The Bobcats return home for a battle against CC foe Mount Olive Friday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. in Williams Gymnasium.
