BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae men's tennis squad dropped a decision to DI representative UNCA, 7-0, at the C.D. Chesley Indoor Tennis Courts Saturday afternoon in Banner Elk, N.C.
The Bulldogs (5-1) rebounded from their first loss of the season by having four players earn two wins on the day. The Bobcats (0-5) hung tough against their second consecutive DI opponent while Garrett Lakey (North Wilkesboro, N.C.) produced a gritty performance at No. 4 singles.
Lakey gave John Schubel a run despite dropping the bout, 6-3, 6-4.
Both doubles decisions were decided by a 6-3 score.
Freshman Sebastian Zuhr (Burlington, N.C.) put up a hard-fought battle in No. 6 singles against Reid Dillon.
Coach Skylar Warren's team returns to action to battle Point U. Friday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. in Hickory, N.C.
