ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team dropped a three-set decision to McKendree University (25-15, 25-20, 25-13) in their last neutral site contest in Missouri.
1st Set – The Bearcats jumped on the Bobcats early in the first set, getting out to a ten to three lead before forcing a Lees-McRae timeout. The Bobcats were able to battle back, closing the gap but McKendree were able to maintain their advantage and win the first set.
2nd Set – The second set was the most competitive of the match. Lees-McRae began by taking an early two to nothing lead over the Bearcats. McKendree fought back to tie the match at seven only to see Lees-McRae go on a scoring run of their own to go ahead, 13-9. Both sides traded points back and forth until the Bearcats would again take the lead at 19-18. McKendree were able to ride that momentum and win the set, 25-20.
3rd Set – The last frame was competitive and near the midway point, Lees-McRae pulled within one point at 10-9. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, this would be the turning point and the Bearcats pulled ahead for good to take the match.
Next Up – Lees-McRae will return to action next Friday when they travel to King. First serve from Bristol is set for 7 p.m.
