WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College track and field teams wrapped up their indoor season at the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships Sunday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The men's team finished eighth out of 10 teams, while the women's squad placed seventh among 11 institutions. Highlighting the day were five school records broken by the Bobcats.
The Bobcats had several standouts on the track on Sunday. The top finish of the day on the track for Lees-McRae came in the men's 4000m distance medley relay race where the quartet of Joshua Hall, Christopher Lomax, Andrew Ybarra and Tristin Bertie finished second with a time of 10:50.67, which broke the school's indoor record for the event.
The DMR performance was not the only track record to fall for the Bobcats on Sunday as Britney Augustin broke school records in the 60m dash (7.82) and 400m run (59.11). With those two record-breaking runs, Augustin now owns every Lees-McRae indoor sprint record.
Rounding out the top track outings for Lees-McRae on Sunday was Deanna Betzer who placed fourth in the 5000m run (19:28.61) and fifth in the 3000m run (11:15.38). Betzer's time in the 5000m run was a new person-best for the freshman from Pennsylvania.
Turning to the field events, Camden Donovan placed the highest out of this grouping placing third in the high jump with a mark of 1.86m. Aliah Williams narrowly missed out on All-Conference honors after placing fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.04m. The highlight of the field events, however, was Mya Roberts who broke the school's indoor records in both the weight throw (13.92m) and shot put (11.74m) on the day.
The Bobcats will return to action for the outdoor season on March 20-21 with the L-R Power Fitness Invitational in Hickory, N.C.
