Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Bobcats trip up at Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College Women's lacrosse team fell to the University of Mount Olive on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 24-3. With the loss, the Bobcats are now 2-4 on the season and 2-2 in conference play.

The Bobcats were able to keep pace with the Trojans early, pulling even with Mount Olive at one apiece after Makayla Willets capitalized on a free position attempt and found the net. The goal from Willets was her 18th of the year as she continues to lead the charge for Lees-McRae. The Trojans were able to respond, however, and in a big way. Mount Olive scored the next 14 goals to take a 15-1 lead into halftime.

The Trojans were able to continue their strong play in the second half, scoring nine goals in total during the period. Lees-McRae was able to add two goals of their own, one from Kalbie Grassett while Makayla Willets added another to her total. The Bobcats were able to possess the ball much better during the later portions of the game but were not able to overcome the mounting deficit, falling 24-3.

The Bobcats will return to action next Saturday when they face Converse at home. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
