Michael Marsans tallied a team-high 13 kills, while
Ethan Gardner finished with four solo blocks to close in on the program record, to lead the Lees-McRae men's volleyball team to a four-set victory over visiting Erskine in the Conference Carolinas action this evening.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Lees-McRae def. Erskine, 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 28-26, 26-24)

RECORDS: Lees-McRae (2-14/2-8), Erskine (8-11/3-6)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Marsans also finished with a team-high eight digs and a block assists.
- M.J. Doyle chipped in nine kills and six digs, while Gardner posted five kills and two block assists.
- Riley Chapman tallied 31 assists, two block assists, and five digs, while Bradley Peters posted five kills and five blocks.
- Erskine uses timely runs and a pair of late kills by Rybarczyk to clinch a 25-20 victory in the first set.
- Both teams matched each other point-for-point in the second frame until the Bobcats used a late 5-0 run and a final service ace by Peters to claim a 25-23 win in set two.
- The Flying Fleet opened the third set with six-consecutive service errors but evened the score at 25-25.
- Lees-McRae used a kill by Marsans and an attacking error by Erskine to clinch a 28-26 win in set three.
- The Bobcats closed out the conference victory with back-to-back blocks by Gardner, Peters, and Doyle to claim a 26-24 win in set four.
- Erskine held a 60-37 edge in kills but failed to overcome 23 service errors and being out-blocked 12-8.
FOR THE FOES:
- Kacper Rybarczyk finished with a game-high 18 kills to go along with six digs.
- Jacob Whyte and Edgerrin Austin tallied 15 and 14 kills respectively, while Juan Alcoba chipped in 50 assists.
NOTEWORTHY:
- With his four solo blocks against Erskine, Ethan Gardner needs only three more solo blocks to tie the program record and four more blocks to become Lees-McRae's all-time leader in solo blocks.
