WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Lees-McRae men's and women's track & field teams started their Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday with two school records in the Distance Medley Relays.
THE BASICS
MEET: Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships
LOCATION: JDL Fast Track – Winston-Salem, North Carolina
MEN'S NOTABLES:
- Rien Freeman, Jakob Gerlach, Ben Gribbins, and Brennen Pierce started the day with a program record in the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 10:31.06 and took fourth in the event.
- Max Geckler placed seventh in the 5,000 Meters on Sunday night with a time of 15:15.79 and Isaac Reyna finished the event in a time of 16:33.55.
- Lodrick Scott cleared a height of 1.87 meters in the Men's High Jump and collected a seventh-place finish. Michael Keen led the Bobcats in the Men's Weight Throw with a throw of 13.90 meters and placed ninth.
- JD Green narrowly missed out on the 200 Meter Finals with a time of 22.82 seconds and took 12th in the race.
- Christian Bargaineer advanced to the finals in the 60 Meter Hurdles with a time of 8.43 seconds and is seeded fourth headed into tomorrow's final.
- The Lees-McRae men's track & field team is currently seventh in the standings with nine total points. Mount Olive leads after day one with 61 total points.
WOMEN'S NOTABLES:
- Deanna Betzer, Campbell Dille, Landri Martinka, and Maddie Quinn collected the school record in the Distance Medley Relay this evening with a time of 12:48.95 and recorded second in the race.
- Betzer was back on the track later in the 5,000 Meters and placed seventh with a time of 18:39.72.
- Keagan Osika took 11th in the Women's High Jump with a mark of 1.45 meters and Lora Dillon registered fourth place in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.50 meters.
- Martinka had a time of 1:01.27 in the 400 Meters to place 11th in the preliminaries. Symone Taylor placed 16th in the 60 Meters with a time of 8.12. Eshone Cofield-Jackson followed in 18th with a time of 8.24 seconds and Sandryne Camire finished with a time of 8.28 and 20th in the race.
- The Bobcat women's track & field team sits in fifth place after Sunday with 15 total points. Converse leads the standings with 74 points after the first day of competition.
