BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae men's volleyball dropped its final game of the regular season on Saturday afternoon against "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup" foe King in three sets.
Sebastian Heer and
Isaac LaFunor were recognized before the match as part of Senior Day festivities.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: King def. Lees-McRae, 3-0 (25-17, 32-30, 25-19)
LOCATION: McNair & Debi Tornow Court – Banner Elk, North Carolina
RECORDS: King (4-22/4-10), Lees-McRae (3-23/2-12)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- King jumped out to an early 15-8 lead in the first set and recorded the 25-17 set win.
- Lees-McRae held a similar lead in the second set at 14-8. The Bobcats led 20-14 off a kill from Nelson Castellanos and held a set point at 24-23 off a service error from King. The two sides traded points until the Tornado earned the set at 32-30 off a service ace from Grayson Stoudt.
- The Tornado earned the sweep on Saturday with the 25-19 win in the third set of the Conference Carolinas finale for both teams.
- Lleyton Starke had a match-high 10 kills for the Bobcats and Heer followed with seven kills and four blocks.
- Heer's four blocks now put him in second place all-time in school history in career blocks.
- LaFunor had four digs for Lees-McRae and Thiago Da Silva distributed 19 assists in three sets played.
