Sally Wimberley finished her eighth season as the head coach of the Lees-McRae Cheerleading team in 2024-25.

Wimberley has been a Head instructor for Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) since 2009, traveling throughout the Southeast to coach cheerleading camps. For her efforts, Wimberley was named Rookie of the Year in 2009 and Vet of the Year in 2013. She also played a key role in the operation and management of cheerleading competitions coordinated by the organization. Her responsibilities included putting together the stage and competition mats to make sure that the performers were safe at all times during the competition. She also made sure that the teams were moving through the competition from warm-ups to competition floor at an appropriate pace to ensure a smooth competition. Wimberley spent one year coaching her High School alma-mater in 2011-12 and worked with competitive teams at Carolina Spirit Athletics All-Star Gym.

Wimberley completed her BS in Nutrition Science from North Carolina State University where she cheered for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 All-Girl Competitive Cheerleading squads and the 2010-11 Small COED Cheerleading team, taking third place at NCA College Nationals in Dayton Beach, FL in 2011. Wimberley received the Coaches Award for the 2010-11 season.

Wimberley also serves at the Assistant Professor of Nutrition at Lees-McRae. She serves as the Program Coordinator of Exercise Science, Pre-Physical Therapy, and Nutrition Science programs. She completed her MS from The Sage Colleges in Nutrition Science and is a Registered Dietitian.
