Michael Thomas, a 2017 Lees-McRae graduate, was named the new Director of Esports at Lees-McRae in August 2023 and also holds the position of admissions counselor at the college. Thomas graduated from Lees-McRae with a degree in Sport Administration and received a Master of Science in Sport Management from Liberty University.

Thomas gained experience as an Athletic Communications Intern at Lenoir-Rhyne University where he gained valuable experience in behind-the-scenes work from camera operations, scoreboard operation, stat keeping, and gameday setup. Thomas has been an avid video gamer his entire life and enjoys all different kinds of gaming.
