Tim Hall enters his 14th season as Director and Head Cycling Coach at Lees-McRae College during the 2026-27 academic year, while also marking more than two decades of collegiate coaching experience. Since arriving in Banner Elk, Hall has established the Bobcats as one of the premier cycling programs in the nation, building a culture centered on excellence, development, and championship success.

Under Hall’s leadership, Lees-McRae has consistently competed among the nation’s elite programs with multiple top-six finishes at USA Cycling Collegiate National Championships, including three third-place finishes, three fourth-place finishes, two fifth-place finishes, and numerous additional top national results. During his tenure, the Bobcats have captured multiple individual national championships while also dominating the Southeast Collegiate Cycling Conference (SECCC), particularly in mountain biking competition.

Prior to joining Lees-McRae, Hall spent eight seasons as head cycling coach at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee. There, he transformed the program into a national contender, leading Cumberland to a second-place Division II national finish in 2011-12 before the program transitioned to Division I competition and earned an eighth-place national finish the following season.

An accomplished cyclist himself, Hall began riding in 1998 and started racing competitively in 2000. He has competed at the highest levels of the sport in road cycling, cyclocross, and mountain biking, participating in multiple masters and elite national championships, world cyclocross championships, and numerous elite-level events across the country.

In addition to his coaching success, Hall has built a reputation for leadership in business, team development, and community engagement. Throughout his career, he has spearheaded community service initiatives, including Ride for Reading, and has helped raise nearly $100,000 for veterans organization Team Red, White, and Blue.

Before transitioning into cycling, Hall enjoyed a successful baseball career. A standout catcher at Cumberland University, he earned NAIA All-America honors and was selected in the 31st round of the 1991 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres. He went on to play four years of professional baseball within the San Diego Padres and Atlanta Braves organizations, as well as with the Corpus Christi Barracudas.

Hall earned both his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Business Administration from Cumberland University. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, he resides in Beech Mountain, North Carolina.
