Lexi King enters her fourth season as the Head Coach of the Women's Lacrosse in the spring of 2018. During her three seasons leading the Bobcats, King has coached a pair of All-Conference Carolinas players in Peyton LeCompte and Tiffany Laster along with several new record holders in the history of Lees-McRae women's lacrosse.
“We are looking to build this program and have found someone with all of the criteria we felt to do the job,” praised McPhail. “King, having played here and been a head coach in the Southeast allows us a great chance for growth.”
Before being appointed at Lees-McRae, King was the head women’s lacrosse coach at St. Andrews, where she mentored, developed and coached student-athletes. She was accountable for all aspects of recruiting and controlling various budgets, including overall expense budget and allotment of athletic scholarships. King was an Appalachian Athletic Conference Coach representative and Oversight Committee member of the NWLL.
Prior to coaching at St. Andrews, King served as the assistant coach at Shorter University from August 2011 to May 2013. At Shorter, she was responsible for monthly newsletters to parents and alumni while maintaining responsibility for all aspects of travel, team logistics and team fundraising.
King is an alumni of LMC and played women’s lacrosse for the Bobcats from 2008-2011. She graduated with honors and completed her degree in three years while being on the Conference Carolinas Honor Roll throughout her career and a member of the Deans’ List.
“Her passion and organizational structure will give us a strong presence in women’s lacrosse, I am excited for her return to Banner Elk and look forward to seeing her accomplish great things for us,” said McPhail.
King has volunteered for the Relay for Life and HeadStrong Lacrosse Foundation. She has assisted in the running of multiple coaching and player camps from 2008 to the present.
She was a member of Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.
