Donye’ Monroe enters her third season with the Lees-McRae College Women’s soccer program and her first as the Associate Head Coach. Since joining the Bobcats, Monroe played a key role in guiding the program to the 2024 Conference Carolinas Northwest Division Championship.
“I am beyond excited to begin this new journey with the Lees-McRae women’s soccer program,” Monroe said. “The opportunity to inspire and develop young athletes, share my passion for the game, and foster a love for teamwork is truly an honor. I look forward to working with this amazing group of girls and coaching alongside Coach Cally.”
In addition to her coaching roles, Monroe serves as the college’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Representative and a faculty adjunct in the School of Business teaching Sport Management courses. Monroe also contributes outside of the Lees-McRae community by working with North Carolina Youth Soccer’s Olympic Development Program (ODP).
Prior to joining Lees-McRae, Monroe spent four years at Manchester University, serving as an assistant coach from June 2020 to February 2023 before being promoted to head coach until July 2024. Before collegiate coaching Monroe served as the assistant coach at her alma mater, Villa Rica High School in Villa Rica, Ga as well as Bay Springs Middle School. Monroe, additionally, gained head coaching experience at Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA).
“Her experience and knowledge will provide immediate impact for our student-athletes and program both on and off the field,” said Morrill.
Monroe played for the University of South Carolina Upstate women’s soccer team from 2015-2017 and earned a bachelor's degree in Sport Management from the University of West Georgia in 2020. Monroe received a master’s degree in Sport Management from the University of West Georgia in 2021.
