The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats volleyball team hosted Pfeiffer
University Lady Falcons Friday evening at Williams Gymnasium in
Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference action. The visitors emerged
with a hard fought five game win, taking games one, three and
five.
The teams traded punches in game one before the Lady Falcons
earned the three point win, 30-27. In game two, the Lady Bobcats
dominated with a 30-12 win before again dropping game three by the
same score as game one. The home side rebounded for game four,
30-19 and then battled down to wire in game five with the Lady
Falcons taking the game 15-13, and the match.
Preseason AVCA All American Amanda Huffaker (pictured) led the
Lady Bobcats attack with 20 kills in .654 hitting percentage while
also contributing two service aces, a solo block and five block
assists. Fellow Preseason All American Lacie Smith added 17 kills,
a pair of service aces and ten digs. Caty Honey added 15 kills
while Daviana Metti contributed 10 kills and a solo block. Trisha
Reese set a new career high with 52 assists, smashing her previous
career high of 34.
The loss snapped the Lady Bobcats eight game winning streak, and
drops their record to 17-7 (8-2 CVAC).
The Lady Bobcats will get back on the court tomorrow afternoon
when they host Limestone College at Williams Gymnasium at 2:00p.m.
The winner will take sole possession of first place in the
conference.
