Matt Lacey scored two goals Saturday afternoon, leading the
Lees-McRae College Bobcats men's soccer team to a
Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference win over rival St. Andrew's
Presbyterian College Knights. The win gives the Bobcats a 3-2 CVAC
record, 6-5-1 overall.
Reigning CVAC player of the week, Berin Boracic scored his team
leading ninth goal in the game's 15th minute, taking advantage of a
soft clearing attempt within the SAPC box with a bullet that beat
Knights keeper Nick Stevens. The Bobcats built their lead to 2-0
just before halftime as Lacey buried his sixth of the year. Alex
Turnello made an excellent crossing pass that Kyle McGimsey chipped
over to Lacey for the one timer.
Lacey wasted little time scoring his second of the contest after
finishing off a nice connection pass by Diego Cordiero only 46
seconds into the second frame.
Sean Paradise made four saves in each half to finish with eight
on the afternoon while his counterpart Stevens registered
four.
The Bobcats return to action Tuesday evening hosting the
nationally ranked #8 Limestone College Saints in CVAC action at
Tate Field.
