The Coker Cobras earned their first Carolinas-Virginia Athletic
Conference win on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Lees-McRae
College Bobcats 70-64 in men's basketball action. The Bobcats fall
to 3-11, (2-7 CVAC) while the Cobras improved to 4-11, (1-8
CVAC).
In a game that was a back and forth battle from the very start,
both teams traded baskets through the entire first half. Through
the first 20 minutes the Bobcats had the one point advantage,
30-29.
In the second half Coker came out hot and shot 73 percent from
the floor, while Lees-McRae shot just 30 percent. In the end
Coker's 41 second half points were just too much for the Bobcats to
handle.
Coker was led by Ben Brim with 19 points, including going
4-for-6 from behind the three-point arc, while Ryan Fulwood had 11
points, three rebounds and three assists. Both Jason Fulwood and
Lukas Varga finished the game with 10 points.
For the Bobcats, Mike Fox and Henry Williams each had 13 points,
while Fox, (pictured top left), also grabbed four rebounds. DJ
Menifee had 10 points all coming from the free throw line, going
ten for ten, while Aaron Dugger contributed 10 points and three
boards.
The Bobcats return home to host Erskine College Flying Fleet
next Thursday in CVAC action. Tip off is set for 7:30pm.
