MURFREESBORO, NC--The Lees-McRae Bobcats hit the road for the
first time this season, falling short at Chowan University 83-69 to
fall to 0-2. Chowan evens their record at 1-1 with the
victory.
Chowan used the depth of their team in gaining the victory over
the youthful Bobcats with three players scoring in double digits.
As a team the Hawks shot 63% from the field, (31-49) and 8-16 from
behind the arc.
Chris Kenon paced the Hawks with 23 points, while adding four
assists, and four steals. Jaleel Nelson played a balanced game
with 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals for
the Hawks while Layth Mansour chipped in 13 points and nine
rebounds.
Freshman Nick DeShepper (Fishers, IN) scored a team-high 24
points while junior Modestas Riauka (Kaunas, Lithuania) joined him
in double-figures with 14 points on the night.
The Bobcats will open their Conference Carolinas schedule
Tuesday evening when they return home to Williams Gymnasium to host
Belmont Abbey at 7:30pm.
