The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats lacrosse team opened their
season Tuesday afternoon at Belmont Abbey College, falling to the
powerful Lady Crusaders 20-1. The Abbey improves their record to
2-0, (1-0 CVAC).
The Abbey opened the scoring 1:24 into the game and never
trailed. Laurie Jordan led the home side with six goals while
Chrissy Stokes added a hat trick. Samantha Hooker, Brianna Dignan,
and Shannon Farden all buried a pair for the Lady Crusaders while
Theresa Nolan, Kerri Gut, Meghan Darley, Stephanie Schwaartz and
Theora Canonica rounded out the scoring with singles.
Amelia Hensonm, (pictured top left), scored the Lady Bobcats
lone goal in her first collegiate game.
Kate Gavin made three saves in the Abbey goal over 43 minutes of
work before giving way to Sarah Popovich, who collected four saves
in the final 16:29.
Olivia Maurey made 12 saves in her first collegiate game minding
the Lady Bobcats goal.
The Lady Bobcats will return to action Saturday when they travel
to Presbyterian College in non-conference action. Game time is set
for 2:00pm.
