The Lees-McRae Bobcats men's lacrosse team hosted Dominican
College Saturday afternoon in non-conference action, falling 10-6
to the Chargers. The loss drops the Bobcats record to 0-4, while
the Chargers improve to 1-3.
The Bobcats again started sluggish, allowing the visitors to
jump out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter. The teams would
trade goals in the second, sending Dominican into half time with
the 6-2 lead. Each team would score once in the third quarter and
three in the fourth for the final of 10-6.
Jeremy Arcarz had a game high 3 goals while Alex Jones and Dan
Celebre also registered three point afternoons with two goals and
an assist each. Micah Brown with two, and Joe Cobio rounded out
the scoring for the Chargers.
Jason Schafhauser buried two goals for the Bobcats while Tyler
Stieber, (pictured top left), had a goal and an assist to pace the
Bobcats. Neil Sleight, Chris Stieber and Kyle Ficken also found
the back of the net for the home side, with Ficken's being the
first of his collegiate career.
The Bobcats owned the edge in ground balls, 42-24, but were
unable to generate any offense. The Chargers out shot the Bobcats
32-22, and also held the slight advantage in faceoffs, 10-9.
The Bobcats will be right back in action Monday afternoon
hosting Division I Manhattan College at 1:00pm.
