The Lees-McRae Bobcats hosted Division I Manhattan College at
Tate Field Monday afternoon in men's lacrosse action, falling to
the Jaspers 13-5. The Bobcats fall to 0-5 while the Jaspers
improved their record to 3-1.
The Bobcats were shut out in the first quarter for the second
straight game and again faced a 4-0 deficit heading into the
second. Freshman Brandon Gilseth, (pictured top left), put the
Bobcats on the board with his first collegiate goal, however the
Jaspers bettered their first half total by one to take a commanding
lead into the second half, 9-1.
As has been the case the entire season, the Bobcats came to life
in the second half, however the lead was insurmountable, allowing
Manhattan to cruise to their second road win of the year.
Kevin Dorsey led the visitors with three goals while Marc
Labelle added a pair and an assists. Matt Ryan also buried a pair
for the Jaspers with Matt Slane, Kyle Serbay, Jeremy Marrano, Shawn
Gorinson, Pat Canty and Jack O'Malley rounding out the scoring with
singles. Marrano also chipped in an assist as did Sean
Marshall.
Jason Schafhauser led the Bobcats with two goals while Chandler
Kirven scored his first of the year and also added an assist.
Gilseth and Tyler Stieber rounded out the scoring for Lees-McRae
with singles while Jason Grau picked up a pair of assists.
The Bobcats will travel to Florida this weekend to battle with
Saint Leo University in non-conference action.
