The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats battled the College of Notre
Dame Gators Monday afternoon, falling 19-8 in non-conference
women's lacrosse action. The Lady Bobcats fall to 0-6.
The Lady Bobcats came strong, clawing their way to an early 3-0
lead. The Gators would manage to chip away at the deficit, tying
the game at six and taking their first lead off a pair of goals
from Amelia Yatto with 1:50 to play in the first half. Brittany
Dabkowski would knot the score at seven all just under one minute
later, sending the teams into halftime tied.
The second half would see the Gators come out strong, scoring
five goals in the first ten minutes to build a 12-5 lead. The Lady
Bobcats were unable to recover as the Gators defense tightened up
and held Lees-McRae to just one goal in the second.
Anne Shippen led the Gators attack with six goals while Lauren
Terry added four. Sara Breidenbaugh and Yatto each contributed hat
tricks and Tina Money and Laura Schwarz rounded out the scoring
with a pair and a single respectively.
Dabkowski, (pictured top left), led the Lady Bobcats with a hat
trick, while Laura Hawthorne had a career high three points off two
goals and an assist. Marjie Lesser also contributed a pair of
goals and Clair Shaw a single.
The Lady Bobcats will be back in action tomorrow when they take
on Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC.
