Playing their second game in as many days, the Lees-McRae Lady
Bobcats fell 13-6 to Methodist College in non-conference women's
lacrosse action. The loss drops the Lady Bobcats record to 0-8
this season.
Methodist opened up an early 2-0 lead, and extended it to 4-1
with just over twenty minutes to play in the half. Brittany
Dabkowski would get two back for the Lady Bobcats at 18:41 and
13:06 to pull Lees-McRae within one. Julia Campbell found the back
of the net for her third of the year with 1:14 to play, sending the
teams into halftime tied at four.
Bridget Holcomb gave the home side the lead just 1:52 into the
second half. Laura Hawthorne would tie things up just ten seconds
later, but much like the game the day before, the Lady Bobcats
could not sustain their momentum in the second half. Methodist
would score the next three goals for the 8-5 lead before Dabkowski
would pull the visitors to within two. Methodist would respond by
scoring the final five goals of the game, each roughly two minutes
apart over the final ten minutes, halting any momentum the Lady
Bobcats tried to secure.
Lauren McGonagle led the attack for Methodist with a game high
eight goals. Jessica Lutzow, Kelsie Britt and Christina Layson all
chipped in with singles while Holcomb buried a pair.
Dabkowski, (pictured top left), scored a hat trick for the
second consecutive game while Marjie Lesser, Laura Hawthorne and
Campbell all registered singles.
The Lady Bobcats will open the home portion of their schedule
next Monday after starting the year with seven straight on the
road. The Lady Bobcats will host Seton Hill March 19th at
4:00pm.
