Charlotte, NC--The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats volleyball team
earned its third consecutive road victory Monday evening, defeating
Queen's University 3-0 in Conference Carolinas action. The win
improves the Lady Bobcats record to a conference best 5-0, (9-7
overall), while the Royals fall to 1-5, (2-15 overall).
After starting game one with an early lead, the Lady Bobcats
would open the match with a 30-13 win. The home side marched back
to give the Lady Bobcats all they could handle in game two, pulling
to within three late in the contest (24-21). The visitors would
respond by winning six of the next ten to go up two with a five
point win, 30-25. The experienced Lady Bobcats completed the sweep
with a twelve point run in game three (30-18), after the Royals had
tied the score at eighteen.
Senior Daviana Metti (Cordoba, Argentina) led the Lady Bobcats
with an all around performance, contributing eight kills, seven
digs, and four service aces. Freshman Lindsey Brant (Orlando, FL)
and Whitney Kiser (Connelly Springs, NC) also served up four aces
in the match while Lauren Dickover (Las Vegas, NV) took care of the
setting, registering 23 assists. Defensively, classmate Dani
Usedom (Geneva, IL) and freshman Kell Bogdan (Leawood, KS) had a
team high eight digs each.
Keatin McKenzie led the Royals in the effort with 10 kills,
while Veronica Arenander and Dee-Dee Mathews each had five.
Up next, the Lady Bobcats conclude their five game road trip
this weekend with games against Mount Olive Saturday at 6:00pm and
Barton Sunday at 1:00pm.
