HARTSVILLE, SC--Starting four true freshman, the Lees-McRae
Bobcats were unable to hold a seven point halftime lead, falling
77-75 to the Coker Cobras in Conference Carolinas basketball action
Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats fall to 2-14, (1-9 Conference
Carolinas) while the Cobras improve to 4-7 in conference play,
(6-12 overall).
The Bobcats held the 37-30 advantage coming out of halftime,
only to see the Cobras utilize their home court to their fullest
advantage, outscoring the Bobcats 47-38 in the second half. Coker
was an even 50 percent from the field, shooting 28-56, while
Lees-McRae shot 53.7 percent from the field, 22-41.
Coker big man, Mason Ambler (Atlanta, GA), led the way for Coker
with a game high 27 points, five rebounds and four assists, while
J.C. Hafner (Jefferson, MD) had 13 points, 12 from beyond the arc,
with three rebounds and four assists. Josh Poston (Myrtle Beach,
SC) was the only other Cobra in double figures, scoring 12 points,
while dishing out six assists.
A pair of freshmen led the charge for the Bobcats, as Raysean
Hairston (Elizabethtown, NC) and Nick
Deschepper (Fishers, IN) each had 16 points and five rebounds.
Senior Blake
Carr (Seymour, TN) had 15 points, going 3-5 from 3-point land,
while classmate Mario
McClunie (Knoxville, TN) posted ten points and chipped in with
three rebounds.
Coker and Lees-McRae return to the hardwood on Monday, as the
Cobras travel to Anderson and Lees-McRae hosts Erskine. Both games
are set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
