BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College Bobcats men's
basketball team fell to the Pfeiffer University Falcons 98-80
Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game in Williams
Gymnasium.
After trading the lead over the first four minutes of the game
Pfeiffer opened up a 12 point lead with 11 minutes to play in the
half. They would extend the lead to as many 25 points, 54-29 with
3:50 to play in the first half before taking a 21 point lead,
60-39, into the locker rooms at the break.
In the first half, Pfeiffer shot 66 percent (24-36) from the
field and 55 percent (5-9) from behind the arc, while the Bobcats
shot 42 percent (14-33) field goals and 38 percent (5-13) from the
three point line.
After the intermission the Bobcats were able to cut the lead to
11 points, but Pfeiffer would regain control of the game. The game
ended with Pfeiffer up 98-80.
In the second half, Pfeiffer cooled off and shot 41 percent
(12-29) from the field and 40 percent (2-5) from behind the arc.
The Bobcats improved from the field with a 44 percent (16-36) from
the field, but fell to 25 percent (4-16) from behind the three
point line.
Nick DeSchepper (Fishers, Ind.) led the Bobcats with 18 points,
and sophomore teammate Aaron Woodacre (Piney Flats, Tenn.) knocked
down 17 points. Guard Jesse Hoots (Yadkinville, N.C.) had 12
points and eight assists. Kyle Boardman (Clemmons, N.C.) was the
other Bobcat with double digit points with 14.
Pfeiffer was led by Chris Woods, who scored a game high 22
points, and Robert McGriff scored 15. Trumaine Johnson and James
Crowder had 13 and 12 points respectively for the Falcons.
The Bobcats travel to NCAA Division I, Elon University Friday,
December 19th.
