Newark, NJ--In their second match in as many days, the
Lees-McRae men's volleyball team fell to host school New Jersey
Institute of Technology in Newark, NJ 3-0. The win put NJIT at 4-2
while the youthful Bobcat team is still looking for a win and fall
to 0-6.
The Highlanders, using 13 kills in the first game, outscored the
Bobcats 30-18, then with another 12 kills defeated Lees-McRae in
the second game by a score of 30-17. The Bobcats, however, showed
their tenacity and battled evenly with the Highlanders forcing the
score to 31-29 before succumbing to the host school.
Leading the way for the Bobcats was Orlando, FL native Colin
Kelly with 10 kills, two aces, four digs,and a block assist.
Freshman Robert
Ritchie (Hollywood, CA), was right behind him adding eight
kills, two aces, four digs and a block assist of his own in the
effort. Juan
Rameriz (Miami, FL) ended up with 23 assists.
The Highlanders saw Leonardo Paludo (Balneario Camboriu,
Brazil) finish with 15 kills and six aces while teammate Mike
Nonnenmann (Warminster, PA) put up 23 assists for NJIT.
The Bobcats will hit the road again next Saturday, traveling to
Harrisonburg, VA where they will play Stevens at 12:00pm followed
by Eastern Mennonite at 4:00pm.
