Simpsonville, S.C.--The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats fell 8-2 to
Anderson University in the Conference Carolinas Women's Softball
Championship Tournament Saturday morning in Simpsonville, S.C.
With the loss the Lady Bobcats were eliminated from the tournament
finishing their season 21-23.
Anderson's Samantha Moorehead pitched the majority of the game
for the Trojans allowing only two runs scored. Katie Van Gieson
pitched the final inning of the game for the Trojans. On the
offensive side for the Lady Trojans, Meredith Knox hit 4-4 with two
singles, a double, and a home-run earning her two RBIs and three
runs scored. Kayla Thrasher also batted well for Anderson, going
2-4 with a double and a home-run for two runs scored.
Lees McRae's Magen West (Whitney, Tex.) pitched four innings
with two strike-outs and three runs scored. Amanda Dodson (Walnut
Cove, N.C.), who took over in the fifth inning, struck two batters
out and allowed five runs. Paula Fryer (Clinton, N.C.) hit well
for the Bobcats going 2-3 with two singles and one run scored.
