BANNER ELK, N.C -- The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats had five
different players score on their way to a 5-0 non-conference win
Tuesday night over Pikeville College at Tate Field.
In the 16th minute Melissa Horn got a through pass from Blaine
Prescott and scored to give the Lady Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
Vickie Rich gave the Lady Bobcats a 2-0 lead in the 50th minute on
an assist from Tiffany Rodman. Rodman's through pass left Rich
one-on-one with the keeper.
Maribeth Novak scored in the 62nd minute on an unassisted goal, and
Ashley Splawn scored her first goal of the season in the 77th
minute when she dribbled the length of the field for the goal to
make it 4-0.
Caitlin Smith scored in the 82nd minute when she ripped a shot from
about 20 yards for her first goal of the season and gave the game
it's final score of 5-0.
The Lady Bobcats out shot the Lady Bears 28-4.
With the win Lees-McRae improves to 7-1 overall.
The Lady Bobcats will face Conference Carolinas opponent Barton
College in Wilson, North Carolina on September 27th at 5 p.m.
