SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Lees-McRae College Bobcats fell to
Division I, Wofford College, Tuesday night in a physical men's
basketball contest in the Ben Johnson Arena.
The Bobcats defense held the Terriers to 10 points over the
first eight minutes of play, but couldn't get started on offense
allowing Wofford to take a 10-0 lead. Sean Hardin scored
Lees-McRae's first bucket at the eleven minute mark to make it
10-2.
Lees-McRae cut into the Wofford lead with 9:34 remaining in the
half when Hardin made another lay-up, but Wofford quickly pushed
the lead to 20-8 two minutes later.
The Terriers finished the half on a 20-6 run to take a 40-14
halftime lead.
The Bobcats shot 23 percent from the floor and missed their only
three-point shots of the half, while the Terriers shot 50 percent
from the floor and 33 percent from the three-point arc.
In the second half the two teams traded buckets until the
Terriers pushed the lead to 41, 62-21, with 10:57 left in the
half. Over the final ten minutes, Lees-McRae hung with Wofford
again trading buckets to end the game with the final score of
81-39.
The Bobcats finished the game going 35 percent from the floor,
50 percent in the second half, and 33 percent from behind the arc,
2-for-3 in the second half. Wofford shot 53 percent overall from
field goal range and 40 percent from three.
Jeremaiah Henry and Hardin paced the Bobcats with eight points,
and Sam Youse added seven points. ReShon Benjamin and Stephen
Haymer grabbed a team-high four rebounds.
Lees-McRae will begin Conference Carolinas action Tuesday,
November 24th when they travel to Pfeiffer for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
