GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats women's
lacrosse team had their three game win streak abruptly stopped
Tuesday afternoon with a 24-3 loss to the Limestone College Lady
Saints in Conference Carolinas action.
Trailing 7-0 with 12 minutes remaining in the first half, Cheryse
Cox got the Lady Bobcats on the scoreboard with an unassisted
goal.
Cheryse notched her second goal of the game with 1:31 left in the
first half to make it 15-2, but Limestone answered, adding one more
goal just before the half to make the halftime score 16-2.
Lees-McRae's only goal of the second half came when Lauren Ocho
found the back of the net with 11:24 remaining in the game to make
the score 21-3.
Limestone added three more goals over the remaining 11 minutes to
give the game the final of 24-3.
Tiffany Paris and Desiree Cox collected a team high four draw
controls. Lauren Martin and Abby White picked up two draw
controls. Anna Deluke scooped up a team high two groundballs.
Cheryse Cox and Deluke caused one turnover apiece.
Lees-McRae turned it over 22 times compared to Limestone's 11
turnovers.
Limestone outshot Lees-McRae 32-12.
The Lady Bobcats were only successful on three of their 11 clear
attempts, while the Lady Saints successfully cleared it 13 of their
14 attempts.
Lees-McRae will return to action Saturday, February 14th against
Erskine in a game that was postponed earlier this season.
