WHEELING, W. VA. - The Lees-McRae College Bobcats men's lacrosse
team will have to wait to earn the first win of their season as
Wheeling Jesuit gave the Bobcats a 15-3 loss Thursday
afternoon.
Wheeling Jesuit scored the first eight goals of the game spanning
into the second quarter before Matt Markey finally got the Bobcats
on the scoreboard with 7:09 remaining in the second period.
Markey's goal made the score 8-1.
Neil Sleight followed with a goal three minutes later to close the
gap to 8-2. Kyle Ficken had the assists in both goals for the
Bobcats.
Wheeling Jesuit would add one more goal before the intermission to
make it 9-2 at halftime.
After a Wheeling Jesuit goal, Markey added his second goal of the
game on an unassisted goal with 10:39 showing in the third
period.
Wheeling would score the next five goals to close the game out and
make the final score 15-3.
Markey, two goals, and Ficken, two assists, had two points for the
Bobcats.
Andy Nesdill earned the loss in goal despite making 16 saves on 32
shots on goal
Lees-McRae was outshot 47-15.
The Bobcats will play Rollins College March 27th at Mars Hill
College for their next game.
