OWINGS MILLS, MD. - The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team
won their first match of the day over Stevenson University, 3-1
(30-19, 30-26, 19-30, 30-16) that extended their match win streak
to ten matches, but in their second match the streak was snapped in
a 3-2 (30-23, 18-30, 27-30, 30-24, 12-15) loss to Philadelphia
Biblical University.
In the first match against Stevenson, Chad Mercado, who had 14
kills, was the only Bobcat with double digit kills. Ryan Black led
the team with four and a half total blocks. Juan Ramirez passed
out 46 assists. Mercado and Charles Macias led the team with four
service aces. Mercado was responsible for 20.5 points. Robert
Ritchie picked up a team high 17 digs, and Jeremy Evans had 11
digs. All 13 players saw action in the match.
In the second match against Philadelphia Biblical University, Evans
led the team with 16 kills on 25 attempts with only three errors
for a .520 hitting percentage. Colin Kelly contributed 15 kills in
the match and led the team with four service aces. Ryan Black,
again, led the Bobcats with three total blocks. Ritchie picked up
a season high 24 digs during the match.
The Bobcats will travel to Eastern Mennonite Wednesday, March 11th
for their next match.
