CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Despite Desiree Cox's seven goal performance,
the Lees-McRae College Bobcats fell to Pfeiffer University Lady
Falcons 22-11 in Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse action.
Desiree's seven goals paced the Lady Bobcats, and sister Cheryse
added two goals. Tiffany Paris scored Lees-McRae's other two
goals. Cheryse, Paris and Julia Campbell led the team with two
ground balls apiece. Campbell and Lexi King had three draw
controls for the Lady Bobcats. Campbell also led the team with
three caused turnovers.
Martha Peacock had a career high 14 saves in the crease, despite
getting saddled with the loss.
Pfeiffer scored 12 goals in the first half compared to Lees-McRae's
five goals, and in the second half Pfeiffer added another ten goals
compared to Lees-McRae's six.
Pfeiffer outshot Lees-McRae 44-23 and won the groundball battle
19-11. The Lady Bobcats won only 13 draw controls, while Pfeiffer
won 22.
Lees-McRae was successful on eight of their 14 clear attempts,
while Pfeiffer was good on 15 of their 19 attempts.
The two teams will square off again Saturday at 1 p.m. at Pfeiffer
for their next game.
