CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College Bobcats men's lacrosse
team played in the programs first Conference Carolinas Tournament,
but fell in the semifinal game to the Queens University of
Charlotte Royals 18-6 at Independence Stadium.
Derin Vacca and Kirk Rodgers led the team with two points. Both
players scored a goal and had an assist in the game. Neil Sleight,
Kyle Ficken, Matt Markey and Michael LaSalle all scored a goal in
the game. Jon White and Landon Young notched assist for the
Bobcats. Brendan Snyder had a team high seven groundballs, and
White had four groundballs.
Queens jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead in the fourth quarter and
added three more in the second quarter compared to the Bobcats one
goal to give the game a 9-3 halftime score. Queens added four more
goals in the third, while blanking Lees-McRae. Queens added five
more in the fourth, and the Bobcats added three goals to make the
final score 18-6.
Queens outshot Lees-McRae 39-25 and won the groundball battle
50-36. Lees-McRae was only successful in 11 of 23 clear attempts,
while Queens cleared 20 of 18 attempts.
Lees-McRae will play their final game of the season Friday, April
24th at 7 p.m. against Catawba.
