SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats fell,
3-1, to the Clayton State Lakers in nonconference action, despite
taking a 1-0 lead into the halftime intermission.
The Lady Bobcats jumped ahead first in the first minute of play
when Vickie Rich scored from 35 yards out.
The Lady Bobcats took a lead into the locker rooms for the
second straight match, but in the second half couldn't hang on for
the win.
The Lakers tied the match at one in the 63rd minute when
Cherie Sayon scored on a shot from the left side of the penalty box
to beat the Lady Bobcat keeper for the goal. Maggie
Mueller had the assist on the goal
The Lakers scored the game winner three minutes later on
Sayon's second goal of the match on a break-a-way down the right
side to make it 2-1. Mueller also assisted the second
goal.
Clayton State notched an insurance goal in the 70th minute on
a header from Mueller on a corner from Rebekah Cook.
With the loss the Bobcats fall to 0-3 on the season.
