INDIANAPOLIS --- The Lees-McRae College men's
soccer team is ranked fifth in the latest NCAA Division II
Southeast Region poll, jumping four spots from last week's poll
after registering a pair of impressive in-region victories against
Mars Hill and St. Andrews.
Lees-McRae (10-3-2, 6-0-1 CC) has won each of its last two
matches, including a 2-1 victory over then No. 17 Mars Hill last
Wednesday. The Bobcats have made quite a charge of late, having
earned a result in nine of their last 10 matches to enter the week
needing one more league win to clinch at least a share of the
Conference Carolinas championship.
Flagler College (9-3-1) tops the region for the first time this
season, moving ahead of second-place Clayton State University
(12-2-0). Wingate University (12-2-0) is third, followed by
University of Montevallo (11-2-1) and Lees-McRae. Carson-Newman
College (10-4-1) is sixth, followed by Anderson University (S.C.)
(10-4-1) and Mars Hill College (11-3-1).
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Tuesday when the Bobcats
travel to Due West, S.C. for a conference matchup with Erskine
College. The match is slated to kick off at 7 p.m.
