BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team
won a pair of matches Saturday. In the first match the team
defeated Conference Carolinas opponent Limestone College, 3-1
(30-26, 21-30, 30-20, 30-24), and in the second match the team
defeated nonconference Eastern Mennonite, 3-0 (30-26, 30-26,
30-17).
In the first game against Limestone, Chad Mercado led had a
match-high 15 kills and a .353 hitting percentage. Raphael Vieira
and Steven Bunning had 11 and ten kills respectively. Juan Ramirez
handed out 44 assists, and Vieria had six service aces. Kyle
Gauger had 16 digs in the match.
In the team's second match against Eastern Mennonite, Mercado
again led the Bobcats with 17 kills. Edmund Walkley followed with
eight kills, and Vieira and Bunning had seven kills apiece.
Mercado again sported a high hitting percentage with a .306 hitting
percentage. Ramirez had 35 assists and Gauger had 12 digs.
Mercado led the team with seven total blocks.
Lees-McRae will take the hardwood Saturda, March 6th at 1 p.m.
against Pfeiffer in Williams Gymnasium.
