KANSAS CITY, Kan. --- The Lees-McRae College
men's soccer team is ranked fifth in this week's edition of the
NSCAA/Continental Tires NCAA Division II Southeast Region Poll
after registering a thrilling 1-0 extra time win over then-No. 7
Coker College on Saturday.
Lees-McRae (11-4-1, 8-2 Conference Carolinas) recorded perhaps
its most critical result of the season on Saturday, upsetting Coker
by a 1-0 margin in extra time to move up to fifth in the region
rankings. The Bobcats have won eight of their last 11 to climb into
the top five in the region for the first time this season.
Anderson University (13-2-0) sits atop the region this week,
jumping over Coker (13-2-0) as Anderson and Coker rank sixth and
10th in the nation, respectively. Flagler College (12-3-1) is
ranked third in the region and 17th in the nation, followed by Mars
Hill College (9-4-1), and Lees-McRae. The University of Montevallo
(9-3-4) is sixth, followed by University of North Carolina at
Pembroke (9-3-2), Limestone College (10-5-0), Barton College
(10-5-0), and North Georgia College & State University
(8-6-1).
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Tuesday, travelling to
Gaffney, S.C. to take on Limestone College in a pivotal conference
battle to close out the Bobcats' regular season league schedule.
Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
