KANSAS CITY, Kan. --- The Lees-McRae College
women's soccer team, fresh off clinching its first outright
Conference Carolinas regular season championship, is ranked sixth
in this week's edition of the NSCAA/Continental Tires NCAA Division
II Southeast Region poll.
Lees-McRae (12-2-1, 11-0 CC) has been on a tremendous run of
form recently, entering the week having won 12 of its last 13
matches en route to capturing the program's first conference
championship since the 2000 season. The sixth-place regional rank
marks the highest in program history in the NSCAA poll, and the
fifth week the Bobcats have been listed among the region's top
teams this season.
Lenoir-Rhyne (14-1-0) is ranked first in the region and fifth in
the nation, as North Georgia College & State University
(13-1-0) is listed second in the region and 11th in the country.
Armstrong Atlantic State University (12-2-2) is third in the region
and 18th in the nation, followed by Columbus State University
(12-3-2) and Lander University (12-3-1). The Bobcats are sixth,
followed by University of North Carolina at Pembroke (8-4-3),
Tusculum College (9-6-1), Lincoln Memorial University (7-6-2), and
Anderson University (9-7-0).
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Tuesday when the Bobcats
travel to Gaffney, S.C. to take on Limestone College in their
regular season finale in conference play. Kickoff is slated for 1
p.m.
