LAURINBURG, N.C. --- The St. Andrews
Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team outscored Lees-McRae
College by an 8-2 margin in the first half en route to a 16-2
victory in Conference Carolinas action on Sunday afternoon.
St. Andrews (5-9, 2-3 CC) outshot the Bobcats (2-6, 0-3 CC) by a
36-13 margin on the afternoon, while holding a 45-26 edge in ground
balls and converting 33-of-37 clear attempts. The Bobcats converted
18-of-27 clear attempts, as St. Andrews controlled 13 of the game's
20 draws.
Olivia Gudewich (Frederick, Md.) and Emily Guenthner (Nampa,
Idaho) each found the back of the net for the Bobcats, as Laura
Hawthorne (Winter Garden, Fla.) and Lexi King (Woodstock, Ga.) each
tallied an assist. Taylor Moody (Woodstock, Ga.) made eight saves
in between the pipes for the Bobcats.
Megan Jolly paced the Knights with four goals and six assists,
totaling 10 points on the day, as Kim McDaniel added five goals of
her own. Anna Egeln also added a hat trick for the Knights, as
Morgan Achilles earned the win with four saves through the first 41
minutes. Meghan Powell tallied six stops over the final 19
minutes.
Allie Faulhaber opened the scoring for the Knights less than a
minute and a half into the game, taking a Jolly pass and finding
the back of the net to give SAPC an early 1-0 lead. Gudewich evened
the tally three minutes later, posting her team-leading 15th goal
of the season following a pass from King. The Knights answered with
five straight goals, opening a 6-1 lead on McDaniel's second of the
game at the 10:58 mark.
After Guenthner countered with her 12th of the season for the
Bobcats at the 5:42 mark, Egeln and McDaniel closed out the half
with a goal each to give St. Andrews an 8-2 lead at the
intermission. The Knights broke the game open early in the second

Lees-McRae returns to action on Tuesday when the Bobcats host
nationally-ranked Limestone College to resume their conference
schedule. The opening draw is slated for 4 p.m. on Tate Field.
