HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Lees-McRae College junior
Taylor Clendenin (Statesville, N.C.) has been named the Conference
Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the first time
in her career, announced league officials Tuesday.
Clendenin paced the Bobcats to a 2-2 record at the Tusculum
College Fall Classic this past weekend, averaging 3.65 kills per
set while posting at least 14 kills in each match. The junior
outside hitter opened the two-day slate with a 15-kill performance
in a 3-1 win against Montevallo, and followed that with a 17-kill,
seven-dig showing in the Bobcats' four-set victory over
Lenoir-Rhyne.
She continued her strong weekend play with a double-double
against Francis Marion on Saturday morning, posting 14 kills and 10
digs. Clendenin then closed out the weekend with 16 kills and one
error against Tusculum for a .341 hitting percentage. For the
season, Clendenin is leading the team in kills per set (3.34) and
hitting percentage (.247).
Lees-McRae returns to the court on Tuesday, opening its
conference schedule against Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C.
First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
