KANSAS CITY, Kan. --- The Lees-McRae College
women's soccer team is ranked ninth in this week's edition of the
NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Southeast Region Poll,
announced NSCAA officials Tuesday.
Lees-McRae (5-2, 4-0 Conference Carolinas) is in the midst of a
tremendous run of form, having won five straight matches and
outscored its opponents by a 23-0 margin in that span. The Bobcats
currently sit atop the league table with an unblemished 4-0 record
against conference opponents, including a decisive 3-0 result
against Pfeiffer University on Sunday afternoon. Lees-McRae is also
currently ranked ninth in the nation in scoring offense (3.29) and
shutout percentage (0.714).
Lenoir-Rhyne University remains atop the region rankings while
holding the eighth spot in the national poll, carrying a 5-1-2
record into the week. North Georgia College & State University
is second in the region and 11th in the nation with a perfect 7-0
mark, while Columbus State University is ranked third in the region
and 23rd in the country with a 6-1-2 record.
Lander University (6-1-1) is fourth in the region, followed by
Armstrong Atlantic State University (5-2-0). Flagler College
(6-2-0) and University of North Carolina at Pembroke (5-2-1) are
tied for sixth, followed by Mount Olive College (4-1-1) in eighth.
Lees-McRae and Newberry College (5-2-0) round out the region poll
in a tie for ninth.
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Tuesday afternoon when the
Bobcats travel to Harrogate, Tenn. to take on Lincoln Memorial
University in a pivotal region matchup at 4 p.m.
