Brown jumps to ninth in nation in three-point percentage

INDIANAPOLIS --- Lees-McRae College junior DJ Brown (Anderson, S.C.) vaulted more than 20 spots in the NCAA Division II men's basketball statistical rankings this week, entering this Saturday's Conference Carolinas matchup with Coker College listed ninth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage, announced NCAA officials Wednesday.

Lees-McRae (3-10, 3-3 CC) has started the conference season strong, posting three straight victories over Limestone College, Pfeiffer University, and Erskine College to currently sit third in the Conference Carolinas West Division standings. The Bobcats enter the week ranked 47th in the nation in team three-point field goal percentage, having knocked down 38.4 percent of their attempts from downtown this season, while also ranking 76th in three-point field goals per game (7.0).

Brown has scorched the nets from beyond the arc over the last three games, connecting on 13-of-24 attempts from three-point range, including a 6-for-6 night against Erskine on Jan. 10 to lead the Bobcats to an 82-68 win with a game-high 22 points.

The junior guard enters the week ranked ninth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage with a 49.3 percent clip from downtown this season, surging 21 spots from last week's rankings. Brown also ranks 20th in the nation in three-point field goals per game (3.1), jumping 47 slots from the previous national listings.

Lees-McRae returns to the court on Saturday when the Bobcats host Coker in a conference matchup at 4 p.m. in Williams Gymnasium.
