HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Lees-McRae College junior
Laurel Gregg (Mars Hill, N.C.) has been named the Conference
Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week for the first time this
season, leading the Bobcats to a 4-0 worksheet last week as
Lees-McRae did not allow a run in a pair of doubleheader sweeps
against Concord University and Pfeiffer University.
Gregg opened the week with a one-hit shutout against Concord,
striking out 11 batters over seven innings of work. She followed
with six scoreless frames against Pfeiffer on Sunday, scattering
three hits and striking out four. Gregg currently sports a 2.02
earned run average this season, recording 75 strikeouts in 97
innings of work thus far in 2012.
Lees-McRae returns to the diamond on Wednesday when the Bobcats
host Erskine College in conference play at 3 p.m. at the Bobcat
Softball Field.
