HARROGATE, Tenn. --- Senior James Smith converted on a penalty kick in the 27th minute and sophomore Nicholas Stover earned the shutout in his first start while the Lees-McRae men's soccer team grabbed a 1-0 win at Lincoln Memorial Wednesday afternoon in Harrogate, Tenn.

The Bobcats (6-2-1) earned the victory despite getting outshot 12-3 in the second half while Smith (Eastbourne, England) led the team with four shots. The Railsplitters (4-3-1) had four players with three shots or more on the day.

Smith scored for the third consecutive match when he successfully scored on a penalty kick at the 26:38 mark to provide the only scoring for either team.

Stover (Titusville, Fla.) made the most of his first start as a Bobcat with six saves, including a diving stop in the waning minutes of the second half to preserve the shutout.

LMU's Marcel Barwanietz was dealt the loss after a four-save effort while George Burne led the team with five shots.

The Bobcats return to action Saturday at 5:30 p.m. to battle Mount Olive in Conference Carolinas play on Homecoming at Tate Field.
