Lagle Leads Bobcats to Trio of Wins at Shaw Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. --- Lees-McRae sophomore Sadie Lagle mashed out six hits while LMC went a perfect 3-0 at the Shaw Classic at Walnut Creek Complex in Raleigh, N.C. over the weekend.

LMC 8, Elizabeth City St. 0 - 6 innings

The Bobcats (3-10) notched their first win of the season while freshman Charlie Dutton (Monroe, Ga.) and Tori Wright (Boone, N.C.) combined to throw a one-hitter.

LMC scored a run in everything but the second and exploded for three in the sixth.

Sarah Stallings (Greensboro, N.C.) and Lagle (Harmony, N.C.) paced the squad offensively with two hits apiece, while Stallings scored three runs.

Ashley Lindsay (Holly Springs, N.C.) roped a two-run single in the top of the third while teammate Lori Fulmer (Prosperity, S.C.) duplicated her teammates' success with two-run single in the top of the sixth.

All but two starters recorded a hit for the Bobcats. Dutton earned her first win of the season with four innings of one-hit ball while striking out seven.

LMC 3, Seton Hill 2

Both pitchers settled in an early groove while each didn't allow a run in the first three innings.

Celeste Sheppard (East Julian, N.C.) escaped first inning trouble when she induced a groundball to end a bases loaded threat.

Freshman Taylor Billings (Sophia, N.C.) smashed a two-run double to give LMC the 2-0 advantage in the bottom of the fourth.

Seton Hill would tie it in the top of the sixth thanks to a two-run blast.

In the bottom of the seventh, Valerie Hickey (Umatilla, Fla.) led the inning off with a single and advanced to second a passed ball. She would eventually get to third thanks to a wild pitch.

Lagle provided the heroics for the Bobcats with a walk-off single.

LMC 6, Virginia State 1 – 4 innings (Called due to darkness)

The Bobcats capped off their perfect day with a five-run first inning to put the contest out of reach early.

Fulmer roped an RBI double before Sarah Beth Ashley (Walkertown, N.C.) notched an RBI with a bases loaded walk.

Lindsay and Hickey connected on consecutive RBI singles while LMC held a 5-0 lead after one inning.

Senior Hollie Crickenberger (Boydton, Va.) smacked an RBI single to right center in the bottom of the second.

The Trojans would crack the scoreboard following an RBI double.

Billings earned the win with four innings of three-hit ball and four strikeouts.
